New Governor General
Hurray for women everywhere. Australia has appointed a woman to the most useless position in the country. Now girls can aspire to be a figure head, a nullity rather than somebody who actually has any power.
Also, Kevin has gone for the easy option in appointing an incumbent governor. Rather than think hard about some new blood in the vice-regal veins. he has appointed someone already there, leaving it to Queensland to find some body new. At least Howard experimented, disastrously as it happened, with Hollingsworth (and Gough with Kerr). A safe option for KR. I don't think Quentin will rock many boats.

Prince's Park, Launceston
Some pictures of Launceston.
The fountain is in Prince's Park and was imported from England in 1849.
The statue, from 1997, is of Dr Pugh, who was the first doctor to use ether as an anaesthetic
The splendidly decrepit ex-church is Chalmers Church. Build by the Free Church of Scotland in 1859, it was deconsecrated in 1981.
